Every child has a right to a safe, peaceful, and brilliant life.

We are a community of mentors, educators, and dreamers committed to helping young people see themselves beyond the boundaries of their neighborhoods.

Rooted in the belief that every child holds untapped potential, we create fun, engaging, and educational experiences that open doors to new possibilities. Whether through the arts, the sciences, or the great outdoors, our programs are designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and expand horizons.

We believe exposure changes everything. By introducing youth to new environments, ideas, and ways of thinking, we help them discover who they truly are—and who they can become.

We’re not just running programs. We’re lighting paths, shifting mindsets, and walking alongside a generation of young people as they grow into their full, limitless selves.

Vision

Weekend-Adventures is to end generational and cultural poverty by creating a world where children have a say in how their lives are determined instead of being determined by their zip code.

Mission

Weekend-Adventures show youth and children who they are beyond their neighborhoods by leading fun, educational experiences in the arts, sciences, and the outdoors.

OUR TEAM

Adama Bryant - Executive director

Adama Bryant's twenty-plus year career has spanned both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors involving local, international, remote, and virtual settings. Her early career included administrative and human resources work for an award-winning landscape company. She’s also a dedicated volunteer having supported in-class activities in the San Francisco Unified School District, and has recently become a reading partner.

Ms. Bryant's passion for creating opportunities and access for at-risk youth populations is why she founded Weekend-Adventures (W-A) in March 2018.  W-A provides children in at-risk communities with experiential and educational adventures in the arts, science, and the outdoors, all designed to develop a life-long love of learning and new experiences.

Ms. Bryant is a life-long San Franciscan and the mother of three. She holds a B.S. in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from California State University, East Bay and a Master of Nonprofit Administration from the University of San Francisco. Her additional professional training includes eCornell certification in diversity and inclusion and coursework with Landmark Worldwide.

As an activist in the community, she served on the board of directors of the Tenderloin Community Business District (TLCBD), is a community expert for the Presidio Trust and has been a program speaker for the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy and SPUR, the San Francisco Bay Area Planning and Urban Research Association.

Asha Bryant, Treasurer

“I volunteer with Weekend-Adventures because I grew up in a low-income neighborhood and know how hard it is to imagine a life beyond it. I love working with W-A kids, taking them on outings like sailing and hiking, and seeing them experience new things. It reminds me of my own journey and how important it is to have someone who believes in you. One hobby I have is watercolor painting, which helps me relax and have space to be creative. I’m now in my first year of college in New York, working toward my Bachelor of Fine Arts in fashion design.”

Savannah Moore, Secretary

"I truly enjoy working with weekend adventures because I'm passionate about the youth and their development. I love to see their faces when they get to experience things that they would have never thought they'd be interested in. I'm currently halfway through my undergraduate program to become a social worker. So this kind of work that Weekend Adventures is doing means a lot to me. A hobby of mine is writing short stories and watching movies."

Our Partners

"We partner with museums, cultural organizations, and surrounding parks to ensure our participants can fully enjoy and engage in the high-quality outdoor/enrichment opportunities available throughout the Bay Area. Our primary partners are The Blue Water Foundation and Point Reyes National Seashore Association (PRNSA).”

Program Partners

Blue Water Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to providing sailing experiences to underserved youth in the San Francisco Bay Area. Blue Water Foundation partners with us to provide lessons in sailing and boat safety, offering what is often the first opportunity our participants have ever had in the surrounding waters of the San Francisco Bay. Experiences include training in maritime skills, teamwork, and communication. Blue Water Foundation provides life vests and certified volunteers to lead the sailing trips and ensure participant safety.

PRNSA is a nonprofit education partner of the National Park Service. Their goal is to support preservation projects and offer environmental education programs that encourage others to engage in environmental stewardship. PRNSA welcomes Weekend-Adventures to the Point Reyes National Park and offers educational programming about environmental conservation and restoration at no charge to us or our participants.
