FAQ
-
Where are you located?
We are a San Francisco based program. We operate throughout the bay area.
-
What if my child gets sick while on an outing?
We take precautions from the beginning by having families complete an emergency card that lists allergies and insurance information. If by chance someone gets mildly sick, we give them water, allow them to rest and if needed, we call parents to get permission to give children’s Tylenol. If a child is hurt, we end the trip immediately if needed and return home to go to the nearest emergency room.
-
How do I get in touch with the program leader when they are out?
Responsible family members are given the cell phone numbers of every adult on each trip.
-
How much does the program cost?
Our Program is offered at no cost to families.
-
Who do you serve?
We serve youth and children grades 3-8th who live in areas where resources are limited. Starting 2026, we are planning to expand to serve high school youth as well.
Unfortunately, we do not have the capability to properly serve youth who have special needs.
-
How do I sign my child up?
If you are signed up for our newsletter, you will receive a notification of when our next session starts. Once you share interest by sending an email to contact@Weekend-Adventures.org, you will receive links for registration.
-
How long is the program?
Each session runs 10 weeks.
-
Is this an overnight program?
No, we are a day program.
-
Are you insured?
Yes, we carry all required insurance for working with this age group and for transportation.
-
What are your security measures?
-
Does your staff know CPR/First Aid?
Yes, they do.
-
What if my child needs to miss a week?
Because of the frequency of our trips and the long wait list for our program, youth are allowed to miss up to 2-weeks of programming. We ask that we are given at least 48 hours notice. No shows/no calls are not ok and your child will be removed from the program immediately.
-
What’s the ratio of child/youth to adult?
We strive for 1:10.
-
How do you get the children to the locations?
Our meet ups for pick up and drop off are at 100 Franklin Street. Parents are responsible for getting their child to the pick up location and for picking them up at the end of the day. Weekend-Adventures uses private transportation for our trips as we are not a stationary program and we visit places all over the bay area.
-
When is our next session?
Each session starts near the beginning of a new season. We run a program during the winter, spring, summer and fall. If you have signed up for newsletter, you will receive a notification when our session opens.
