Volunteer Development Coordinator/Grant Writer

Reporting directly to the Founding Director, the volunteer development coordinator/grant writer
will perform key duties in the overall fund development process. This is a key role and you will
be looked to for the highest level of professionalism and resourcefulness.

We are looking for someone who has a deep desire to see children prosper in life. You will thrive in making things happen for those less fortunate in this world, and you do this by connecting dollars with programs that make BIG changes in the communities that they serve. You are masterful in the art of decoding what funders are asking, and you can answer each question with confidence and effectiveness.

You will be responsible for:

  • Keeping a weekly (or more) call with the Director.
  • Sourcing new funding opportunities from foundations, government agencies and
    corporations.
  • Writing and submitting LOIs, compelling and detailed grant applications.
  • Developing and organizing a top-notch tracking system which includes reports and timelines.
  • Assisting with the end-of-year fundraiser.
  • You will also provide basic training to other volunteers, when needed, including the program
    director.

Must have:

  • 5 years working in the nonprofit sector in a similar role with similar responsibilities.
  • Proven track record of success as a grant writer.
  • Professional attitude, maintaining the highest degree of confidentiality.
  • Strong computer software skills which include, building and maintaining databases.
  • Must be detail-oriented and meticulous.
  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Thoughtful and able to decode the needs of grantor/grantees to determine a possible
    match.
  • Understands and can apply a high degree of interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess a positive, fearless attitude – do not take “no” for an answer.

Nice to have:

  • Experience working remotely.
  • Certified as a fundraising professional.

Volunteer Logistical Coordinator

You will work very closely with the director creating program logistics. This role requires an aptitude for repetitive work. The logistics come in two parts: one is for the six-week cohort, and the other is for the individual weekly trips. You will also help organize the director’s calendar as it relates to Weekend-Adventures. You will sometimes need to work with other volunteers in the organization to maintain an operational flow that is seamless.

Although this role will require wearing a few hats, it is essential for the ideal candidate to be extremely skilled with time allocation, and working on one task at a time when necessary.

You will be responsible for:

  • Constructing informative and detailed itineraries to keep parents informed of the current
    and upcoming schedules of weekend events.
  • Researching costs associated with new trips.
  • Being available by phone on trip days as a back-up to the trip leader.
  • Maintaining and updating the logistical calendar when needed.
  • Assisting with the end of year fundraising which includes Giving Tuesday.

Your skills:

  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Being able to ask for assistance when needed.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite, Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop.
  • Comfortable with working independently if needed, as well as working remotely.
  • Enthusiastic and receptive to a start-up non-profit culture.
  • Possess the ability to exercise judgment and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • A reliable, data-oriented mentality.
  • Comfortable with receiving and following instructions, with the assertion to take initiative
    when necessary.
  • A positive mindset! Someone looking to make the world a better place.

What we can offer:

You will gain a wealth of experience and access to various trainings and seminars. You will
also have an opportunity, if local, to co-lead several program trips (this is contingent on passing
a background check and being certified in CPR and first aid). These trips are fully paid by the
organization. You will work alongside a leader who is smart, thoughtful, fair and ON FIRE!
